CHAMOMILE  contains two substances that make it great to use in skincare.  'œBisabolol', present in chamomile is anti-inflammatory.  Apigenin has been shown to reduce DNA oxidative damage and acts as an anti-inflammatory. 

CALENDULA has a high flavonoid content which makes it a versatile herb that contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory carotenes. It has been used for centuries to make topical skin preparations to ease burns, eczema, psoriasis, insect bites, abrasions and other irritations.

Laguna Herbals is led by Andrea Sands, an Herbalist certified in the didactic, therapeutic and field work of Herbalism.  She has studied under some of the most well known leaders in the field including Rosemary Gladstar, a pioneer in the herbal movement often referred to as the 'Godmother of American Herbalism'.  As a strong proponent of the healing actions of herbs and natural remedies, Andrea's research and study spans the last 20 years.  She is dedicated to bringing her knowledge of herbs into the mainstream and developing and producing therapeutic, effective, safe and fun products that adults, teens and children will want to use regularly as part of a healthy and natural lifestyle.

The inspiration behind the founding of Laguna Herbals began with sunscreen.  When Andrea's daughter was just a toddler, it was difficult to find a sunscreen that didn't turn her skin beet red and cause itchy rashes.  When her daughter turned 6 months old, Andrea was so excited to use sunscreen and chose a commercial brand in a kid friendly pink bottle reading 'œsafe for babies over 6 months' 'œ#1 pediatrician recommended brand'.  Andrea fully trusted the marketing.  After applying on her daughter and spending a day at the beach, Andrea was concerned that evening when her daughter's skin looked like it had a bad sunburn and an itchy skin rash on her arms and legs only to realize that it was a reaction she had to the sunscreen itself.  Andrea soon learned that in this 'œnumber one pediatrician recommended sunscreen' there were several not very kid friendly chemical ingredients (for more on the effects of harmful sunscreen chemicals click here).  We believe there is no need to use sunscreen with harmful chemicals, so we developed our all natural safe and effective mineral based sunscreen and started Laguna Herbals to continue our mission of developing alternative safe and effective products.
